Felicity Thorley

Occupational Therapist, Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and AHTA member

Felicity is the director of Hand Therapy Centre and has over fifteen years experience in hand and upper limb rehabilitation. She graduated from the University of Queensland in 1995 and completed a Master in Public Health in 2007. Felicity gained her Certified Hand Therapy (CHT) qualification in 2003.  She has worked in the public and private sector in Australia and the United Kingdom.

Felicity is a full member of the AHTA and has been involved in teaching their level one splinting course. She is also involved in teaching undergraduate students at the University of Newcastle. She has a special interest in complex trauma, wrist instabilities and arthritis.

Vera Tse
Vera Tse

Physiotherapist, Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) and AHTA member

Vera studied physiotherapy at the University of Sydney and graduated in 2002. She has been treating hand injuries since 2005 and gained most of her experience working at the Westmead Hospital Hand Therapy and Plastic Unit. Vera successfully completed her Certified Hand Therapy exam in 2009 and is a full member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association. Since moving to Newcastle in 2008, she has been a team member at Hand Therapy Centre, with an interest in complex traumatic hand injuries and tendon rehabilitation.

Nicole has worked in a variety of settings in Australia and the United Kingdom since completing her physiotherapy degree at the University of Sydney in 1997.

Nicole began specialising in hand therapy in 2006 and completed a post-graduate certificate in hand therapy in 2009 and passed the Certified Hand Therapist exam in 2012. She has worked in Hand Therapy practices in Victoria and joined the Hand Therapy Centre in 2010. Areas of special interest include trauma, wound and scar management and Dupuytrens disease.

Monica Canty

Monica has been treating hand injuries for fifteen years. She was graduated as an Occupational therapist from Worcester State College in Massachusetts with a degree in Occupational Therapy.  She completed her Certified Hand Therapy Exam in 2005. Monica has many years of experience in treating rheumatoid disease and elbow injuries in the United States. She joined the team at Hand Therapy Centre in 2010.

Melissa Wallace
Melissa Wallace

Melissa graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2009. After graduating, she gained valuable experience working as a Physiotherapist for Hunter New England Health where she discovered her passion for hand therapy in 2012 at the John Hunter Hospital. Melissa furthered her career in this specialist area in 2013 when she moved to Sydney to work at the renowned Sydney Hospital Hand Unit. In 2014 she completed the prestigious and highly competitive Hand Therapy Clinical Fellowship. Returning to Newcastle in 2015, Melissa joined the team at the Hand Therapy Centre, where she continues to provide evidenced based rehabilitation to patients with upper limb injuries.

Melissa passed her Certified Hand Therapy (CHT) exam in 2015, and is a full member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA).
